This Week in the Wine Corner: Good of you to take time to talk with us here in the Wine Corner, Easter Bunny. It’s been four years since our last chat with you. Quite a lot has happened since then, eh E.B? Pandemics, political turmoil, Space X. Who would have imagined?
Easter Bunny: Sounds hare-raising. You’ll have to fill me in. What with my podcast, Instagram posting, and work as brand ambassador for the Great British Carrot Association, there’s precious little time for keeping up with world events. Then there are the four litters a year of Easter Bunny offspring to deal with. People know we’re a prolific species, but don’t consider what it entails (no pun intended) — just managing the screen time of all those little ones seems like a full time job, not to mention the parent teacher meetings and the orthodontics.
TWWC: Four litters of maybe a dozen each every year? That is a hutchful!
E.B: Well, we’re not complaining. But the missus and I find ourselves resorting to take-out rather more than we used to.
TWWC: I’m sure our readers would love to know some of your favorite dishes. What are we likely to see on offer, say, on a Tuesday night at the family warren?
E.B: Well, Tuesday is Italian night at our place and there’s a great little shop around the corner we love. We’ll typically start with a container of their carrot gnocchi, move on to some carrot-filled tortellini with carrot sauce, cleanse out palates with a grated carrot salad with EVOO and balsamic vinegar and finish with a taste of carrot tiramisu.
TWWC: Exciting! And how about wine? Our Wine Corner readers are eager to know what might be in that fabled Easter Bunny decanter.
E.B: I think, like most rabbits, we prefer claret.
TWWC: And that’s because?
E.B: Rhymes with carrot.
TWWC: Of course! A last question, if you don’t mind. With Ms. Easter Bunny so busy pushing out all those litters, when does she have time to lay the Easter eggs?
E.B: I’ll have to get back to you on that. Say, is that a carrot in your pocket or am I, like, so dreaming?
